Pukeko Single Sided Wooden Puzzle
Pukeko is the New Zealand name for the purple swamp hen and thought to have landed here 1,000 years ago from Australia, either by Maori or European (inconclusive). Although now considered native to New Zealand, subspecies are found all over the world. Pukeko are reluctant flyers but good waders, swimmers and runners. They are mostly vegetarian but also eat eggs, frogs, small fish, chicks and mammals. The Pukeko is a distant relative to the Takahe.
